At the very core of his fitness philosophy is a commitment to focussing on building strength and practical skills rather than the mirror muscles that so many gym buffs tend to become preoccupied with. It’s a brutal, intense and continually changing routine but according to Statham, the results speak for themselves. Says Statham,

Musclemen grow on trees. They can tense their muscles and look good in a mirror. So what? I’m interested in practical strength that’s going to help me run, jump, twist, punch.
